In the last half of the 19th century, L.C. Tiffany, the son of the famous jeweler, combined technology, manufacturing and design to take fine art glass that was previously expensive and rare, and mass produce it for a reasonable price so that more people would be able to enjoy his work. He called this new process Favrile. It was not long before Favrile art was a hit in France, and soon became accepted worldwide. His factory in Long Island produced thousands of art glass objects, many of which are still collected and cherished today.
In January 2000, the founders of our company developed a vision for a process that combined technology, manufacturing and design to make personalized cancer therapies. Previously, personalized therapies were expensive and rare. However, by using this new process, they could be produced in large numbers at an affordable price. Thus, in homage to L.C. Tiffany, our founders decided the company should be called Favrile, and the logo for the company should be the dragonfly that was so prevalent on L.C. Tiffanys signature art-glass lamps. After adding an additional L for symmetry, Favrille, Inc. was successfully launched.
